Tibet is a plateau region in the north-east of the Himalayas, in the People’s Republic of China. It is the traditional homeland of the Tibetan people as well as some other ethnic groups, and is now also inhabited by considerable numbers of Han and Hui people. Tibet is the highest region on Earth, with an average elevation of 4,900 metres (16,000 ft). I’ve hitchhiked, trekked, biked and bussed over a lot of Tibet. Here is a collection of photos mostly of the people of Tibet. It is a great place to travel though due to the political situation in China, it is at times difficult to visit due to visa and travel restrictions. A great website for up to date visa information, travel tips and general information on Tibet is: http://www.thelandofsnows.com
